My name is Shannon Lee and I started my healthcare career when I was 16 working at a nursing home. I decided to join the Air Force after graduating high school. In the Air Force I became a Respiratory Therapist. I served in the Air Force for four years and during that time I was one of the first women on the Critical Care Air Transport Team. I exited the Air Force in 1999 and remained in Biloxi, MS working in the coastal hospitals as a Respiratory Therapist and did some traveling preforming Pulmonary Function Testing. Then in 2004 we moved to Winchester, VA. I did a travel assignment in Alexandra, VA and then started working at a small hospital in Woodstock, VA. In 2006 my husband of 11 years and I were blessed with our first child a little girl named Sydnee Ryanna. In 2007 we decided to move back home to AL and I got a job in the respiratory department at Huntsville Hospital. I decided to go back to school and graduated from Wallace State Community College with my Nursing degree in 2009. I started my nursing career in the Cardiac Care Intensive Care unit at Huntsville Hospital. In 2011 my husband and I were blessed with our second child a little boy named Payton Dorsett. I received my Bachelor’s in Nursing from Jacksonville State University in 2013 and immediately started my Master’s in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at UAH 2 weeks after graduating Jacksonville State. I graduated from UAH in Dec. 2014. God led me to meet Kim Reisenwitz at a seminar before I graduated and I learned of the position at AL Asthma, Allergy, & Immunology. I decided to take a chance and mailed them my resume. They in turn decided to take a chance on me and I was blessed with my current position in October 2014. I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with a wonderful group of people and see some of the best patients in AL. I have had many wonderful jobs throughout my life and I am proud to say AL Asthma, Allergy, & Immunology is one of my favorites.
